🌍 Overview
Meet the Geisha that proves why the name carries weight. From the famed Aguilera brothers of Costa Rica’s West Valley, this Yellow Honey Geisha is precision in a cup — soft, floral, and impossibly elegant. Grown at 1,550m, it’s the kind of coffee that makes you slow down just to pay attention.
The Hermanos Aguilera (Aguilera Brothers) are 12 siblings who have become legendary in the West Valley region. Coffee has been in their family for over 60 years, but in the early 2000s they turned their focus towards speciality — a move that reshaped their future. Since then, their name has been a fixture in Costa Rica’s Cup of Excellence, winning awards year after year for consistently exceptional coffees.
Across their farms, the Aguileras grow more than 35 Arabica varieties, experimenting with different processes to push flavour boundaries. This lot from Finca Licho is one of their classics: a Yellow Honey Geisha, harvested in March 2024, showcasing their hallmark clarity, balance, and elegance in the cup.
🌱 Why Geisha?
Not all Geishas are created equal. The Aguilera family’s decades of expertise and honey processing bring out jasmine and honeysuckle aromatics, a lemongrass lift, and delicate sweetness. Clean, refined, and graceful — this is Geisha as it was meant to be.
What is Yellow Honey?
Honey processing sits between washed and natural. After the skin is removed, some of the sticky fruit mucilage is left on the bean as it dries. “Yellow Honey” means a medium amount of mucilage remains — less than red or black honey, but more than white. The result? Bright clarity with a gentle sweetness, often balancing floral aromatics with a smooth, rounded body.
🏡 Perfect For:
This one shines on pour over. Think V60, Kalita, or Moccamaster — where fruity, floral clarity takes centre stage. Skip the milk if you can; the flavours are delicate, layered, and worth experiencing in full.
